Now that we are well into spring, we subconsciously forget about our boilers and heating as we enjoy the sunny days outdoors. Whilst it is great to enjoy that extra income from low energy bills for the next few months, we need to remember that British summers never last long!
As you get into the full swing of spring cleaning, it may be worth giving your boiler a health check it deserves, to ensure it is ready for when you need it.
We’ve put together a quick checklist to make sure your boiler is in top-notch condition throughout the year.
Whether you have an old boiler or a brand new system, it’s important to know that your boiler is working efficiently. A regular service during spring is ideal, as you are using it much less, so you don’t need to rush to a decision should you need an upgrade, as you would be if it went bust in the winter months.
Cut the energy bills further
Ensure your home is well protected from drafts and well-insulated way before the autumn months hit, as this will help to cut down your energy bills when you do decide to turn the heating system on.
Watch out for leakages
Pipe leaks can happen any time of the year, and although they are more common in the winter months, sometimes they do occur during warmer months. So it is always best to check out for drips and leaks, even if they are very small, they should be dealt with straight away before they get bigger!
One way to detect if there are any leaks is to check the pressure of your boiler. If you have noticed any drops in the pressure, there could be a leak in one of the valves that need attention.
Rather than waiting for something to go wrong, it’s always best to enrol in a boiler maintenance plan to keep your boiler running smoothly throughout the year.
